Happy Halloween

It is Halloween and the weather could not be more perfect for the little goblins coming around for treats tonight. I am really not expecting to see any, because last year none came to our door at all, but we have some candy ready just in case we are surprised. Halloween is fun and I look forward to being in Columbus next year and enjoying it with Larken and Jasper. That kind of brings to mind how much I really miss Kenzie and Zach too. Last year Halloween was fun with them here and I enjoyed getting out the big tote of costumes and dressing them up. I wonder how they are doing in Georgia, I feel bad that I never hear from them. I am sure they are busy with their lives and I just hope they are doing well with school and other social things.
I love the word Autumn, although most people refer to this time of the year as Fall. It has all been said a million times before but a beautiful Autumn day like today inspires me to think deep and even sometimes makes me a bit melancholy. The colors of autumn are so vibrant and the sky is such a beautiful shade of blue, definitely different than the blue sky of summer or the gray sky of winter. I love being chilly and wearing something warm and fuzzy, or sitting outside with a blanket around me. Our balcony is lovely at this time of the year and today we sat out there eating our lunch watching several birds busy hunting and gathering. Perhaps they are the ones that stay all winter or they are just storing up extra food for the long journey south. Our beautiful hummingbirds are gone for the season, I hope we will be able to attract some at the new place in Columbus when the Spring comes again.
I am anxious for our move, but a bit frustrated too. We have not been very successful in finding places that will save boxes for us. Most stores crush them right away and do not have any available for pick up. I hate the thought of having to spend a couple hundred dollars on boxes, good grief. Well, I won't panic yet, we have at least a month to get things packed up and ready to go. I really hope Ed will make a connection with the people at Tom's church and that we can get some help with the actual move. I don't see how we could possibly do it without some serious help.
Tomorrow (Saturday) we are going to Archiver's for scrapping all day and then will stay for the Mania at night. I know it is an extravagance to spend $30. for Mania but it is the only thing that Ed and I ever do fun. That $30 does cover our dinner and we pack PB&J for lunch, so that is pretty much all we spend for a full day of fun and social time with our friend Lori and Karen. I get so much inspiration from those two and so many cool ideas for doing pages. Sometimes when you scrap by yourself all the time, it gets so old hat and boring. I need that time with friends to get my Mojo running again.

October 27th, 2008

Where have I been? It always makes me sad when I think I am going to visit this blog on a daily basis and then the days just get away from me. It is not as if I have a great deal to do or that I am busy, my mind just strays sometimes. I have been struggling with an uncommon amount of pain and that in itself dulls my brain. All excuses aside, I am here now and hope to get everyone all up to date on the latest happenings in my life.
First of all, I have never before watched and paid as much attention to an election than I have this time. It really is a big decision and we can only pray that we put the best person in there, because the country is really in a crisis. Financially and morally, things have really gone down hill, whoever takes on the office is really going to have his work cut out for him this time. I am definitely in the Obama/Biden camp and I do think they have the freshest ideas and the determination to see them through. McCain is just too much like Bush for my liking. He is stale and old and just a war monger. I get so tired of looking at his smirks and snide faces. His choice of Sarah Palin did not help him at all either. She just reminds me so much of the catty, snippy people that I used to work with in the Berea School District.......now I have really condemned myself......but that is how I feel. Enough about politics, I can't wait for it to be over already, so that we can stop talking about it. It did concern me today when I heard that there was an assassination plot being formed on Obama's life... I fear that something like that could happen. It is scary that we still have people who belong to the Klu Klux Klan and things like that. Deep thoughts today........
Well now on to the good news.........we are definitely moving. Our projected date to be in the new place is December 15th......just in time for Christmas. Maybe we will not put up a tree this year because we probably won't even know where it is at the time. hee hee. I am excited about the move to Columbus because I do think it is going to be a good thing for us. We need to be around more people and to have some connections with neighbors and all. Our apartment here in Cincinnati is lovely and the weather is very mild and nice, but we never see anyone or really make any friends. I just think that apartment dwellers are not as community oriented as people in houses on a small street. I think it is very fortunate that we found a place right next door to Julie and Jean. It will be so nice to enjoy the everyday things with them and the two children. I love those little ones so much, they really make me laugh.
